There are many things to see and do locally, from walks to steam trains, waterfalls and horse trekking there is something for everyone in the great outdoors in the heart of Ceredigion.

 

For those of you less inclined to spending time outdoors there are plenty of places to rest too, from local pubs to town cafes, promenade huts and seaside amusements.

The Vale of Rheidol Railway

The railway runs along 12 miles of Welsh countryside from Aberystwyth to Devil's Bridge. The slower pace of the steam train is the perfect way to take in the scenery and enjoy a more leisurely way of life for a few hours. A step back into history to experience the majesty of the steam railway with the trains dating between 1923 and 1928. The charity has also newly opened an engine display shed and event space ready for the coming seasons so that you can get up close and personal with the steam engines.

Devil's Bridge Falls
 

Devil's Bridge Falls hosts many unique waterfalls with the nature trails providing a great opportunity to view these natural features hidden in the Rheidol Gorge. Being only a few miles from us in Goginan and 12 miles from Aberystwyth it is a brilliant example of the beauty the local countryside has to offer. A day out not to be missed, especially if paired with a trip on the Vale of Rheidol Railway to round out the day.

Rheidol Riding Centre

 

Rheidol Riding Centre has been a staple in the valley for over 25 years and continues to be a great part of the local community. Offering riding opportunities to all ability ranges for hacks, treks and schooling sessions either in the indoor or outdoor arena or even cross country practise out in the fields there is something for everyone. Plus it's a fabulous way to do some exercise while taking in some breath taking views.

Bwlch Nant yr Arian Centre

 

Nant yr Arian is only a few miles from the site with stunning panoramic views. There is footpath access from the site if you like a good walk and a visitor centre open during peak season with a cafe, gift shop and toilets. Daily feedings of the red kites ensures  they're always around and you're sure to see them circle up high and swoop into action. Several well trodden paths of varying lengths and difficulties pass around and through the centre for the avid walker.

Aberystwyth Cliff Railway

 

Within Aberystwyth the Cliff Railway rises dramatically to the top of Constitution Hill at the northern end of the promenade. Boasting uninterrupted views of Cardigan Bay it is a sought after photo spot with 26 mountain peaks visible on a clear day. The funicular electric cliff railway has been leisurely transporting passengers to the top since 1896 and is definitely a must see attraction.

The Druid Inn
 

Located on the A44 and a village staple, the Druid Inn resides less than a miles walk away from the campsite (for those keen hill walkers looking for a cheeky pint and hearty food) or a 5 minute drive for those that are less adventurous or able.

With a friendly atmosphere, brilliant food and drinks, pool table and darts board as well as regular events the local pub is the place to go!

Aberystwyth Cafes

.With loads of options to choose from there is a place to suit everyone in the town. From all day brunch to fish and chips, coffee and a cake to cocktails there are many options in the town for a treat or tipple!

The majority of businesses being small and local owned really adds to the community spirit and friendly, helpful attitudes present in these nook establishments,

Promenade Cafes and Food Trucks

If something more scenic is up your street and you aren't afraid of combatting the occasional brave seagull then the rewards are limitless. With many small businesses dotted about along the prom you can easily pick up a hot drink, fresh donuts and an ice cream before you've finished walking its length!

Enjoy the calm serenity, go porpoise spotting or shelter from the white horses and intersperse your stroll with a treat.

The Pier
 

As Aberystwyth's biggest multi-attraction, the pier is a constant hub of activity. Whether it is arcade games and collecting tickets that's your idea of fun or watching the latest sports events from one of the multiple screens and seating areas there is something for the whole family.

The pier boasts several pool tables, a couple of snooker tables, shuffleboard, digital darts, foot-pool, golf-pool, air hockey tables, table tennis, the arcade, several sports screens, multiple bar areas, fish and chip shop and a nightclub.
